Madison's Reading Buddy

This particular season in life with the kids is simply wonderful! Madison LOVES to read and her nightly "homework" (if you even want to call it that) is to read us stories and to have stories read to her. Hudson LOVES listening to stories. This combination works wonderfully because Hudson is always grabbing books and bringing them to his sister to read to him! It is too cute for words! I simply adore watching them interact during this special time. Hudson is officially Madison's reading buddy. We are so impressed and proud of Madison. There are very few books from Hudson's collection that Madison can't read. She amazes us each and every day.

Today I caught a picture of these two reading Goodnight Moon on the couch! Such a precious sight!

Slide

So, today at the park, Hudson climbed up the big equipment (which he loves to do), but this time he decided to go down the slide. I didn't tell him how to do it. He intuitively knew to get on his tummy and go feet first. He was soooo proud of himself. After he repeated it a couple of times, I asked him if he wanted to show daddy and he nodded yes, so we recorded it.

"See You Soon"

Well, the day is here, D-day as we call it. We took Alex to the airport this morning and much to our surprise, we were allowed to go to the gate to wait with Alex and to say, "See you soon!"

Thank you for all of the beautiful texts, emails, fb messages/comments, cookies, flowers, and phone calls that I have received. Each one has been much appreciated.

Here is a picture collage from the airport:

I plan to be better about updating our blog, in the hopes that it will help Alex feel more connected back home, so please feel free to stop by, see what we've been up to, and leave a comment or two! :)

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Madison's first day of Kindergarten! She was so excited! She had a blast! She was very excited that she learned how to draw herself doing a headstand. (It's the little things right?!?)

She is so happy that she gets to go back tomorrow! She has already been asking me when her teacher will let her read. :) She is just so excited to grow in her reading skills. I am so impressed with what she can already do and how well she decodes words.

I have signed up to be the room mom for her class, so I am excited for that! It's fun being on the parent side of things, since I am use to being on the teacher side of things. We are looking forward to a wonderful kindergarten year!

Here is a video from this morning as well:

Disney

We went to Disney yesterday and this was one of my favorite pictures of the day. I will post more later, but just wanted to work on being more consistent with posting on our family blog!

Cracking Eggs

Madison is really into helping me in the kitchen right now! This past Saturday Madison asked if she could learn to crack eggs with me, so here are the pictures of her learning! She is a natural...not a single shell in her bowl after cracking four eggs!
