Fashion Island

Last year, we went to Fashion Island, in Newport Beach to show our good friends what the National Christmas Tree (in D.C.) should look like. For those of you who haven't heard our funny story about going to visit the National Christmas Tree while we were in Virginia a couple years ago here's a quick recap. Alex, Jordan, Emma, Jen, Matt and myself all went to D.C. for a night on the town. With the exception of Alex, it was the first time any of us had been to D.C. Alex was pretty familiar with the lay of the land because of the different things he had done while in D.C. So he was going to show us where the White House was and we had been told that the National Christmas Tree was near there. Well, we all went out to dinner that night and then after dinner we ventured out to see the sights (in 16 degree weather might I add). So, we were all freezing and looking everywhere for the White House. Alex kept saying, "It's suppose to be right here." He was baffled as to why we couldn't see it. In the mean time while we're on the hunt for the White House, we see this dinky little tree and Emma and I laughed, "wouldn't that be funny if that was the National Christmas Tree." By now we're all thinking Alex had us turned around because clearly there was no White House to be seen where we were, so we stopped and asked a police officer who was standing guard in the street where the White House was. We felt quite silly, when the policeman pointed right in front of us and said it's right there, but you can't really see it because they turn the lights off at 10:30 pm (It was about 10:45 pm). Alex had been right the whole time, we just couldn't see it because it was so dark. So then we kindly asked where the National Christmas Tree was, and it was that little dinky tree that we had seen earlier (whose lights also were turned off at 10:30 pm). So, we (Alex, Jen, Matt, and myself) started telling Emma and Jordan about Fashion Island and how that tree is sooooo much better than the tree we were currently looking at. Thus, our trip to Fashion Island last year. And we had so much fun that we decided to go back this year.

Of course we had a great time, but it was even better because this was the first time the five of us had the chance to hang out since Jordan came home from Iraq. We walked around for a bit, shopped a bit, talked a bit, and of course we went to Cheesecake Factory and saw the Christmas Tree. If you have never been to Fashion Island during Christmas, you're missing out! It has one of the best Christmas Trees I have ever seen :)

Sorry for the lack of pictures of just me and Alex...our camera died and the rest of the pictures were on Emma's camera and I haven't had a chance to get them from her, but when I do, I'll add to the post!
