Back to School Night

Just one more day left of summer.

Today felt super productive. It started out with a lovely conversation with my dear friend Renee. We finally caught each other at the same time...yay!!! I also feel so refreshed after talking with her and she's just always been a constant in my life and I'm so thankful for our almost 17 years of friendship and how God continues to bless it and weave our stories together. After that, I cleaned the whole house from floor to ceiling. Typically I do this on Fridays so that we can enjoy it over the weekend, but with school starting Thursday, I wanted to be able to keep those days free in case I needed to go get anything done while the kids were at school. So, today it was. :)

Fun Cleaning tip I learned from my dear friend Melissa many years ago, but it's always stayed with me and makes life so much easier: When you mop, run your mop along the baseboards so that you don't have to get down on your hands and knees to dust them...saves so much time and make it shine.

My favorite mop solution: 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner, 10 drops of Lemon Essential Oil, and 3/4 of a bucket of piping hot water. This always leaves my house smelling like Christmas and my floors looking extra shiny.

This afternoon Madison's little friend Mackenzie came over for a few hours and we had a blast. It was so much fun to see all of the excitement and joy that was in the house. While the kids played, I baked cookies for a snack and for the teachers, for back to school night. I stacked about 10 cookies in each cupcake box and decorated it for each teacher.

I forgot to take pictures of all of this....whoops!

Back to school night took up most of our evening. We were there from 4:30 until about 7:15. We really enjoyed getting to meet each of the kids' teachers. I really feel like this is going to be a fantastic year. I remembered to snap a picture when we first arrived at Back to School night, but then forgot as the evening went on, so I have one picture of Hudson against one of the walls in his new classroom.

After the kids went to bed, I worked for a little bit and now I'm off to go read a little.
