The picture above is how my morning started out...simply breath taking! I had gone outside to get my car set up for picking up Madison's little friend Kolten this morning and this is the beautiful sky that greeted me! I stood there for a moment and soaked it all in.
Today is Madison's favorite day of the week: Tuesday, which equals GYMNASTICS!!! Today Madison was super excited to wear her new leotard that we bought at her holiday show. (There is an amazing lady there who makes all of these wonderful leotards and sells them for anywhere between $7 and $15 depending on the size you need. Amazing prices and very good quality).
At gymnastics today, they focused a lot on strengthening the upper body! It was so fun to watch, and quite cute! Here are a sequence of pictures to show you Madison learning how to climb the rope (this was her first time ever doing anything like this). I was super impressed with her strength! Her coach was too!
Very shortly after we arrived home we were bombarded with deliveries. First the USPS showed up with an Amazon purchase I'd made. Next, UPS showed up with a different Amazon purchase I had made. Then, the Fed Ex truck showed up with the most special gift! Our dear friends the Habbens, sent the most thoughtful care package to Alex a little while ago (she sent me a text of all the goodies). Then, today this box of goodies shows up on our doorstep for myself, Madison and Hudson.
I just have to share something with you all. I have never even met Vanessa in person. She and Alex know each other from back before I met him. They were in high school and college group together (which means she also knows several of my other friends). Vanessa and I met once (back when Alex and I were first dating) at our friend's wedding and then a few years ago (while we were still in 29 Palms) connected on Facebook and we've been friends ever since. I feel like I've known her forever. I hope someday that God will cross our paths in person again and not just virtually. Anyway, all of that just to say, I was so truly touched by this sweet gesture. She sent the kids personalized snow globe ornaments that light up (a huge hit with my kids). She also sent them bubbles (another huge hit with my kids). Then she sent me two amazing books (that I didn't even know existed) that I can't wait to read. Then, she sent me my first Velata Warmer and 4 packages of chocolate (that I can't wait to try out). She also sent me a sweet note on the back of their Christmas Card. I may or may not of burst into tears when I opened this sweet box and saw all of the thoughtfulness that went into it. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart! Your kindness left me speechless and humbled!
Today we opened Box #5: The Shepherd
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

You are SO very welcome! I am so humbled my military families & I know that holding down the fort with Alex gone is not an easy task, especially at Christmas. You are on my heart and mind so very often! I wanted you to have a special treat & be blessed as you are always such a blessing to those around you (near & far). I wish I could be there to sip coffee & enjoy it with you!
The Destination: Bethlehem book is a book I read about just a few weeks ago. We just got one for us as well, but I thought it might be something you guys would enjoy in the coming years. It's written to be used as an advent and I plan to either try to tackle it in the next week or read it next year with my kids.
And...for the record, I have known Alex since high school & I have met you once at Tim & Brienna's wedding :)
I am thankful for our friendship & hopefully we'll get to catch up in real life sometime. Maybe your next move will have to be to central Texas!

I am so sorry that I forgot we had met at Tim and Brienna's wedding....I met SO MANY people that day b/c that was one of the first big things Alex and I went to where he was introducing me to all of the important people in his life (that I hadn't met yet or whatnot).
I don't know if there is anywhere in Texas for us to be stationed, but we may have to drive through there to get to the East Coast in the near future ;)
